VRChat Tracer Beams

Accurately grab objects at a distance, or see exactly where your next shot will go! You can change the position, rotation, color, and even gravity of each tracer in order to match whatever trajectory you need predicted. And with easy-to-add Preset Slots, you only need to calibrate the tracer once for each purpose. (Unless you reset your avatar.)

You can also copy settings between both hands (either via a button, or in perpetuity via a toggle). This will usually result in a perfect match, such as having both tracers properly follow the VRChat pointers after synchronization, but some avatar bases may have a slight mismatch between tracers. For this, there is a debug orientation menu under Extra Settings, which allows you to adjust one tracer or the other to account for this mismatch. In my testing, only the Nardoragon base had this mismatch issue.

Now has tractor beam functionality and a desktop mode!

This prefab is only visible locally, and as such uses ZERO synced Parameter Slots.

Compatible with both Write Defaults On and Write Defaults Off.

This asset IS Quest-compatible!

VRCFury is used for ease of installation. Once VRCFury has been added to your project, installing the Tracer Beams is a simple matter of importing the Unity Package, and dragging the prefab object onto your avatar in the Hierarchy. A text-based installation guide is included in the Unity Package.

UPDATE: While using the Tracer Beams myself, I got to thinking that it'd be nice to be able to pull items to myself. So, I added tractor beam functionality. X) The power of each tractor beam can be set in the expression wheel, and is activated by doing the rock-n-roll gesture (holding trigger only). Then during testing, I realized it'd be helpful if I added a desktop mode that makes the beams come out of the head, so I added that too, which can be toggled on under the Extra Settings menu.

As a heads-up for the tractor beam, VRChat works in such a way that you won't always be able to pull objects to you.
Firstly, they need to be physics-affected. If it's an object you can let go of and have it continue moving, that typically qualifies.
Second, the object has to be "owned" by you. When someone picks up an object, they're designated as the "owner", and the majority of physics/position calculations are performed on their client. If you want to be able to pull an object with your tractor beam, you'll need to have been the last person to grab it. A tad counter-intuitive, sadly, and defeats the purpose of a tractor beam in many situations, but that's just the way VRChat works. :(
